2021-22 Boys Volleyball

State Champions!
That was the cry from the 2022 boys volleyball team, who captured the Division II OHSBVA title with a 3-1 triumph over Dayton Carroll at Pickerington Central High School on June 5, 2022. It was the 9th team state championship in Badin athletic history.

A spike by senior Eli Halverson gave the Rams a thrilling 30-28 triumph in Game 4 as BHS celebrated its first boys team state championship since the baseball team won an OHSAA crown in 1996.
The boys went full circle … they lost their season opening match at Dayton Carroll, then nearly ran the table for the rest of the season before downing Carroll for the title. They finished 26-2 under head coach Anitra Brockman.

Members of the championship squad included seniors Luke Dwire, Eli Halverson, Connor Helms, Leo Hoppa, Ian Sabourin, Andrew Schwartz, Sam Vornhagen and Zach Wagner; juniors JJ Even, Ethan Gibson, Bernie Lampe, Patrick Ray, and Zak White; and sophomore Jordan Brockman.
Halverson was named first team all-Ohio after being named the Player of the Year in the Greater Catholic League Coed Division as well as in the region. He’ll play volleyball at Wittenberg University. Jordan Brockman was 2nd team all-state, with other major honors going to Luke Dwire, JJ Even and Sam Vornhagen. Dwire will play volleyball at Mount St. Joseph University.

The head coach was Mrs. Anitra Brockman. Patrick Johnson and Anne Debbane were assistant coaches, with sophomore Katie Schwartz the team manager. Moving up from the junior varsity to help with tournament practice were sophomores Sam Pendergest and Aiden Phan along with freshman Ben Vornhagen.
Great news - boys volleyball will now be a sport sanctioned by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, a move spearheaded by Coach Brockman while serving as president of the OHSBVA.
